Ever since KGS moved to its new location I've had severe lag problems. Clicking on stones and waiting for 1 second for it to appear is not unusual.
It seems some people are not experiencing this at all while others report a similar problem. I thought I'd poll to see how widespread this issue is.
Are you having lag on the new KGS server?

I get some lag on my desktop, nothing too serious. But I'm completely unable to use it on my laptop.

When did the server move?

Re: Are you having lag on the new KGS server?
I have noticed quite a bit of lag lately, but it doesn't seem new. I've always had lag problems intermittently - typically when I go into byo-yomi.
Patience, grasshopper.

I'm getting this lag too. It's only happening on KGS for me (it's not general lag), and I didn't have it before. It lags out, then a few minutes later I'll get disconnected. Basically unplayable. I'm living in the UK.

A couple of weeks ago.
In a perfect world, you shouldn't ever even notice a server move -- everyone just continues to use DNS and the DNS records are just updated behind the scenes.
KGS has always had issues with network lag from time to time, so I doubt the server move itself has added anything to it at all.
Lag can happen for any number of reasons, most of them tend to be personal -- too many local resources consumed (low memory, high cpu usage, etc), local network router issues (esp. wireless; neighbor interference, etc.), local ISP issues (unusual high traffic volumes with your neighbors or others using the same ISP connection; or "3rd world" country issues), any router inbetween your local ISP and KGS' ISP, and finally KGS' ISP issues (not likely, but could happen), and KGS server issues itself (also less likely).
The higher up the chain, the more users that would be affected. But in my personal experience, the issues almost always start at home.

Re: Are you having lag on the new KGS server?
I know one issue that many experienced right after the server move was related to DNS updating. Many people were given a "fix" of using a certain IP address as their host -- these issues should now be resolved, so make sure your host is set to goserver.gokgs.com. This may not fix it for everyone, but hopefully will fix it for some.
