IGS game won + time

Post by tekesta »

Before starting, I want to apologize for the link. I tried posting the diagram, but I kept getting "Invalid Game Data Received" and I gave up.

As "palmetto" on IGS and rated 17k (I opened an account about a week ago), I played as Black against dh2013, also rated at 17k. After my last move in the top right corner, White stopped playing and let the clock run out. One thing I noted is that White played what seemed to me a decent opening.

I am sure that Black was ahead by a slim margin, but the game was unfinished. (I yet have to perfect my counting skills.) I'm sure that White, at least with incisive play, would've been able to win the game.

My counting is not the best, but I see black with about 130ish points of territory (the territory on the top and bottom is probably reducible, but I gave it to black) and white with only 80ish points (and I was being generous in the center, this is very reducible).

Black was far ahead by my weak counting skills.

Here are my counts -
Black's group on the bottom - about 32 points
Black's group in the top right - about 35 points
Black's territory from his group on the left - about 24 points
Black's territory as it stretches to the top - about 38 points

White's top left corner - about 19 points
White's bottom left corner - about 19 points
White's bottom right corner - about 20 points
White's center group - about 24 points
And white's komi - .5 points

Score estimate: Black 129 - White 82.5
