Don't know what book to read next? Have a killer reading list for improving joseki knowledge? This is this place.

Recommendations for AKaios

Post by RobertJasiek »

At KGS 13 kyu level, shapes and life+death should not be your only concerns. Rather, you must overcome every kind of mistake typical for your rank. For the theory part read First Fundamentals, for the reading problems part, read problem books (or more specifically such for life+death). At the moment, there are no specific LD problem books for your rank I can recommend. OTOH, every problem book that is neither dull nor difficult for you can work, even in Asian language.

For studying shapes at your level, there are 3 things to master:
- avoid empty triangles (just do so!)
- stop each monkey jump (put them on the board, try and read, until you stop each), then learn to maximise your territory while doing so
- know and play the thick shape types: you find them in First Fundamentals and, in more detail, Joseki 1 Fundamentals.
