Welcome. Amazing you found this site so quickly. The power of the internet is changing things so much.
Still officially AGA 5d but I play so irregularly these days that I am probably only 3d or 4d over the board (but hopefully still 5d in terms of knowledge, theory and the ability to contribute).

Many thanks
The internet is my first port if call for any info nowadays
Been lurking and reading posts for about a week and now I want to join in!!!!
I've just downloaded the 2 volumes of "River Mountain Go"- FANTASTIC free resource. I also play a colleague from work on IGS- normally 2 games a night at 9 x 9. It's all good stuff.
Just wish I had found Go sooner- I'm 44 years old.

That means you were one of the few people here who was actually alive when I played by first game.

You aren't the only 40 year old newbie, so have fun!
Thanks
I'm starting my own full time business next year- so I definitely don't consider age a barrier to trying new pursuits!
REALLY enjoying the game of Go so far. Mixing my time between playing and reading (River Mountain Go). I used to play online poker for 2 years- so I appreciate the discipline of balancing the playing with the studying.
A new business, excellent! What are you doing or is it under wraps? GO is great because it can be enjoyed on so many levels. 40 is the new 20, so go for dan level.
Walla Walla GO Club -(on FB)
We play because we enjoy the beauty of the game, the snap and feel of real stones, and meeting interesting people. Hope to see ya there! お願いします!

Thanks Tony,
I'm an architect by training- my business is focused on the emerging global trend of "Building Information Modelling" or BIM for short. It's a totally new way of working for many design practices / facility managers, etc.
Anybody that uses Autodesk Revit will know what I'm on about
