Re: Use of Attacking Style as White?
Dangomango, this style of subobtimal moves . Against stonger players it is impolite, against weaker players it is insulting
against stronger players, you won't be playing as white in the first place

Re: Use of Attacking Style as White?
try playing random opening(tengen, side points, 6-3 points etc.) then play like you are playing a handicap game
or taking like 4 7-3, 8-3 points etc. then ignoring opponents move, tenuki to the max, then try to start fights that are favorable, utilize maximum aji on the groups that you left behind ...

well probing corner enclosures was "natural"
now it becomes "natural" to attach to non enclosed corners
there are logic/reasoning behind those AI moves...but it seems it becomes to complicated for amateurs to fully understand and utilize in our strategies
like 3-3 invasion immediately, the logic is ...

Re: AI and New Fuseki
I was just thinking about something. Imagine that either the New Fuseki movement got here a little later, or the AI and computer development was several decades earlier, and we humans were still playing old fuseki openings. Imagine that AlphaGo had come along then, and suddenly started playing ...

Re: Playing vs reviewing games + tsumego!
playing applies your knowledge into the game
it's like practicing what you already know
reviewing doesn't do much help unless a stronger player helps you review and offer some insights into the game
it can help if you thought that in some spots you could've played better, like you identified your ...

Re: All my games ends in dragon chases!
move like 115 is questionable because your bamboo joint can be cut if white goes j10
move 33 is questionable too, seems too heavy with no purpose
after white 40, i would attack white with full force at around g6, seems like a kill
after white 70, k2 seems like a kill

Re: tygem 5d vs me
Yeah, I agree 86 was what went downhill afterwards. I played 86 with the intention of using it as a probe.
However, after I saw 87 played out, I got married to the idea of splitting.
Something like Q9 is a lot better at 86, it seems in this relaxed review environment, possibilities are endless ...

Re: tygem 5d vs me
I think after move 88, i kept giving territory away and i wanted to kill a group or two but it never happened
after you said, where's my territory in game, i just realized that was the fatal mistake in game
i chased and chased like a madman and in the end opponent ended up with the most territory ...

tygem 5d vs me
Ok I'm about 1k-5k on kgs
Anyway, it seems I can set my rank to maximum 5d on tygem
in game i am white
opponent is 5d with 76 wins 107 loses
I think i dominated from opening to middle game
then afterwards my game went downhill
I resigned at the end
any comments welcomed

such a "simple" word has so many different interpretations/meanings
which led to this heated discussioni
As you can see Chinese/Japanese/Korean all are deep languages, 1 word with gazillion meanings

Imho the best ones are the ones that get you started.
The ones that help you get started become the building blocks of your foundation of knowledge.
There's a Chinese saying: Even the tallest buildings all start from the ground

In another word, even buildings as tall as the twin towers ...
