Just played a 19x19 game against it. No handicap, strength 3 (strength goes to 5 but the 2 highest are only available in 9x9 and 13x13. I guess they would be too slow on 19x19).
It played a really good fuseki as long as I stayed with normal patterns. I would assume an extensive fuseki library. But ...

Re: Buying Go Books Without a Credit Card
There are 2 problems with sending cash, if first if the Mats was dishonest. For one off sales on ebay that might work but he trying to build a business. Scamming your customers is not good for long time investments.
The second one is that the post office don't actually allow it and will not take ...

Re: Byo-yomi: Do you like it?
Question is, how many top group games should be decided with accidental time loss that has nothing to do with actual time pressure in EGF A -class tournaments. Everyone should give a rough figure what is correct percentage. Then we can compare and calculate how many games are being decided by clock ...

Re: Time Tesuji
It has been advised for over-the-board play not to pick up a stone until you know exactly where you are going to play it. That encourages thinking before you play. You can do the analogous thing in online go by not keeping your hand on the mouse. After playing put your hand in your lap while you ...

We do not exclude such people from Asia, of course, but when we refer to the CKJ countries in that way we often tend to say South-East Asia, although whether China is then included is often a matter of debate.

Re: EGC 2010
It doesn't really matter if they are counted as one or 2 whatever. Every game is still calculated separately and the calculation for game 2 is made based on change after game 1 etc. The only thing that makes a difference is that there are a limit to how many points you can lose in a single tournament.

Re: Using a computer to record a tournament game
At the EGC people have been using both paper, phones and laptops. I use an android phone myself.
But at the WMSG in china 2 years ago no electronic devices at all where allowed in the playing area. It was not overly enforced (no searches) but you where definitively not allowed to record you game on ...

kokomi wrote:How is the SOS of someone who absents some games generated? i.e. Thomas Debarre was absent from the first game, and his SOS is still 126 sum of five games.
Not 100% sure but I think it adds the players own mms to sos for games not played.

So with the EGC comming up does anyone know if this app has any stability issues?
When I last tested it for game recording several months ago there where some problems but I know there have been several patches since (with at least one claiming to specifically fixing at least one issue I had).

Re: Koreans about EGC: Hwang Inseong
Main reason: very small prizes in Groningen last year.
Also, no information available about prizes in Tampere. In every event in Korea they announce prizes in advance and only EGC it is usually a big secret
Top Korean amateurs are interested in big prizes, of course!
How many of these korean ...

No pro signatures here but I do have one signed by Yumi Hotta. Only used it during the 2008 EGC in Leksand because it was so hot.
