Review request (3k KGS)

Hello,
I would very much appreciate some comments on my latest game within which I managed to spend a bit of thinking time on my moves (in an attempt to get away from "autopilot games").
Despite the result, I'm not very proud of myself: I think I made quite a few mistakes in letting myself be split ...

Re: Failure in fuseki (3k KGS game)

Thank you very much for your responses. I clearly didn't think enough about this move 33. It didn't even strike me when I reviewed it alone. I'll think about it.
Sorry for the truncated file. I used Smartgo on Mac to extract the SGF txt and I didn't know it wouldn't be complete.

Failure in fuseki (3k KGS game)

Happy new year to all !

I’ve recently reached and exceeded 1000 games and I have to admit that dan level is further away than I would have initially imagined (I'm 3k KGS currently). In 2017, I’d like to get a little away from repetitive fast play and get back to fewer and slower games but ...

Re: Where to play at the end of the Fuseki (practical exampl

Thank you so much for all those detailed and valuable answers ! Very enlightening!

I'm amazed by how great is this online go community...

P.S. I ended up playing the slack move of C10 (iron pillar) and my opponent invaded at D14 as a result.

Re: Where to play at the end of the Fuseki (practical exampl

Two others to consider are O4 (better than P5) and C15.

Given that there is no single move to secure white's moyo on the left I think I would be inclined to reduce with O4 and wait to see how black tackles the left. Whatever black does should allow white to secure enough.

Thank you for your ...

Where to play at the end of the Fuseki (practical example)?

Hi,
I'm currently playing a game on DGS trying to think through my moves. Reaching the end of the fuseki. I got to the below position (playing White), I really wasn't sure what to play (for information, I already made my move). I'd be glad to have the point of view of stronger players on this ...

Re: Game Review Request - Actorios - 3k vs. 3k game on KGS

Thank you very much. I'm honored to get a review from Charles Matthews - your book is one of the first I did read when I decided to get into go (with Janice Kim's).

Game Review Request - Actorios - 3k vs. 3k game on KGS

Hello,
I'm back to the game (and to the forum) after a long hiatus. I would be glad to receive some help in reviewing my latest game played on KGS. It was a tight one with a few ko played and some tense life and death situation. I was playing White.

I'm especially interested about the following key ...

Re: Screen Capture Recorder on Mac

That's fantastic responses. Thank you so much !
I kind of understand that SnapPro X is the high end of the spectrum (probably together with iShowU).
I heard of it before so I'm tempted...

Of course, Screenflick is a cheaper option (and therefore a little bit more appealing... As I don't know which ...

Screen Capture Recorder on Mac

Hello,
In my last go camp, our teacher did use KGS and a beamer to run its lessons and commentary.
After the camp, he did provide students with videos of his teaching on USB key.
I find this very convenient and rather than taking notes on the go, I was willing to record (with my teacher's approval ...

Re: Go and Negotiation

Would you care to elaborate the question even further? I am having a hard time understanding the connection between the two.

I guess my statement above already clarify a little bit the topic.
I'd be curious to know if some people did the parallel between typical negotiation techniques and go ...

Re: Go and Negotiation

I'm usually unwilling to answer questions from people who don't explain why they want to know, but as a way of putting off transcribing a game with 240 moves on one diagram with faded Chinese numerals, I'll toss out Troy Andersons' "The Way of Go" and Miura Yasuyuki's "Go and Asian paradigm for ...

Go and Negotiation

Hello,
I'm looking for books / articles (online or print) relative to "go and negotiation" (similarities between both activities, go as a model to negotiate).
Would you know of any good sources relative to that aspect?

Many thanks in advance,

Re:

True, I had my eyes on it the whole time but couldn't find time to play it (vs. other moves). It did hit me hard later on.

feels small and not urgent: B has an open skirt anyway, thanks to .
( Other points are bigger; for example, L16 ...

Re: Game review : 2k KGS

@move 8
You're still failing. He didn't play Kobayashi.
Thanks, I indeed didn't notice the difference in placement.
It seems this pattern was played by a few strong players on KGS and managed as Kobayashi but my pro games database doesn't have this move in it.

@move 42
I'd say you should s8 ...
