Some hundreds who turn up to tournaments, according to records. Under a dozen clubs, scattered across three time zones. About a dozen tournaments.
My personal theory is that there's thousands of go players in Australia, they just all play on the internet, 'cos finding another person to play IRL is so hard.

just compared the population density of Australia and The Netherlands'cos finding another person to play IRL is so hard.
the Netherlands has a population density which is around 150 times higer then that of Australia
(400 people/km^2 compared to 2.7 people/km^2)

I thought that the Aussies had their verry own pro. At least that is what I read yesterday on their AGA homepage.with one or two professionals, whom we have to ship in specially.
