Some hundreds who turn up to tournaments, according to records. Under a dozen clubs, scattered across three time zones. About a dozen tournaments.

My personal theory is that there's thousands of go players in Australia, they just all play on the internet, 'cos finding another person to play IRL is so hard.

the Netherlands has a population density which is around 150 times higer then that of Australia
(400 people/km^2 compared to 2.7 people/km^2)

Flies? I wish. Mosquitoes. We keep the cancer-curing trees on the northern coastal rainforests, where it is convenient to cut them down for hardwood timber. :)

But we have those too :D it's called "zandverstuiving" (they aren't really desert)
Thing is they only cover 1400ha (5.5 sq mi) That is even more a lot more than 150 times smaller compared to the Australian desert (529,000 sq mi).

There isn't any Australian Go Congress, as big as European or US one? With pros from CJK countries?

There is a tiny little national championship, with one or two professionals, whom we have to ship in specially.

I thought that the Aussies had their verry own pro. At least that is what I read yesterday on their AGA homepage.

San Fransisco, last I heard. No-one here was qualified to teach her, except Younggil An 8p, who is swamped.
